New house!

We moved! The house sale closes on Nov 21 but we moved early for two reasons: we had to accept the house on base by Nov 3 or one wouldn't be available until the middle of December and Adam is going to be TDY for the last part of November, including the closing date. If we were paying for movers to pack everything up, I would have considered moving without him. :) But, in the end, we paid for professional movers to move all the boxes and furniture. Took such a load off of Adam (and his friends.)

We still have stuff in the old house. It's never ending. Much of it is giveaway stuff but there's still some to bring to the new house. And the new house is small. We lost about 3600 sq feet of house and basement when we moved here. Happily but the reality is that, even though we have been decluttering and purging since January, we figured out quickly once the movers off-loaded the truck that we had more to sell/give away! Our furniture is giant sized for this little house. The china cabinet, TV, armoires are just huge looking. Not getting rid of most of them...just working with it. Bedrooms are teeny! The guest room barely fits the queen bed and armoire. Dresser had to go in another room. Lots of shelving has been given away/sold.
Adam has been spending ALL day in Baltimore with a big TV production with Maryland Public Television. It took two hours for him to get to the base last night. If we still lived in our old house, he'd have had another 45+ min on top of that! It's such a nice change for him to leave the house at 7:20a to get to the office in plenty of time for a 7:30a departure.

The kids and I spent a few (cold and windy) hours outside after breakfast this morning. Everyone on wheels of some sort, just going from the river path to playground to wherever they wanted. It was so nice and relaxing! As far as homeschool, the kids have been going to the school of hard-knocks for 2.5 weeks. Grumpy, tired parents preparing for a move and the subsequent "settling" in. School starts up again Monday. We still have LOTS of boxes to unpack (where to put everything?!) but they are going to sit in the garage until we unpack them, one by one. That way the house is kind of set up and feels like home where we can get back to our studies with some tiny sense of clarity.
