Suzuki Institute 2016

We did it! Niece KK flew up from Florida and we headed off to PA for another fun exhausting week studying Suzuki violin. KK was on Kieran duty most of the time while I helped the older two get from class to class (though they didn't need me after a couple days) and tried to listen in on their lessons whilst taking care of Finn. He was not a happy camper there. Once we got home, he chilled out immensely. The stress of constantly being hushed and stuffed in a stroller, etc was his undoing.
In a new location this year, the Institute started off with the opening play-in and concert in an un air conditioned gymnasium! On the hottest day of the year! It was no fun but the kids pushed through.

Finnian fell asleep sometimes, this time during Sean's repertoire class where they go through all of the Suzuki repertoire in fun ways.

Sean's masterclass teacher, Ms. Laurie, helping him get a loosy goosy bowhold.

Cooling off in the hotel pool

Cathleen at her performing group class with Ms. Martha.

Sean read his book during his break.

All the kids and KK at Hershey's Chocolate World.

BB-8!

And a butterfly!

Making Finn sit still at a restaurant after a day of having to sequester him was NOT happening so we improvised with dinners in the hotel room. This really worked! Grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Pretty hair for day 2

Sean performing his concerto at the recital. The accompanist was so impressed with him!

The theme this year was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Wars. :) Friday was dress up day.

Kieran was Darth Vader. No masks allowed.

Sean was Darth Sidius. ??

The fiddling teacher, Ms. Chris, told him not to prevent Finn from coming up to class if he wanted so Finn always went right to Sean and hugged his legs. The class often circled around Finn and played their new pieces!

Yet another concert for Kieran to attend!

Light saber bows at the grand finale!!
Sean's favorite teacher that he's had for four years, Ms. Chris. He was a big help to her this year, helping her teach some tunes that he already knew.

Next year, when we live in Alabama, this Institute will be 14 hours away. Way too far. But if we couple it with a reunion with our friends here on the base....hmmmm...
